The Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park promotes the use and improvement of the park through the following efforts:
Providing volunteer support for maintaining trails, planting prairies and other stewardship activities
Assisting the park with educational and community activities
Providing financial assistance for park projects and programs

We typically meet on the second Wednesday of the month.

Bike Trails
The Friends of New Glarus Woods is working with park staff on an 8 mile bike trail system that will be designed for multi-use (hiking/running) and optimized for mountain biking. Below is more info.
IMBA Trail Solutions (an arm of the International Mountain Bike Association) is designing the trail system.
CORP (Mountain Biking Advocates for South-Central Wisconsin) will manage construction and maintenance.
The first phase of the project is a one-mile beginner trail.
Look for scheduled workdays starting August 2023. Trail status will be posted on CORP’s website (madcitydirt.com).
So far, $150,000 has been raised! Please consider donating through the link below. Funding supports professional trail building as well as the purchase of tools, signage and other infrastructure.
The Friends of New Glarus Woods has support from Trek Bicycles, Colony Brands and New Glarus Brewing, among local businesses and individuals.
New Glarus NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) squad’s first practice is planned for July 2024.
